Bing, too soon to celebrate

From here:

The numbers, obviously, are quite small—but perhaps more important is the fact that zeroing in on such a short period of time makes it difficult to reach any real conclusions. Sticking with StatCounter’s data, you’ll find that Google’s market share has actually fluctuated fairly regularly over the past several months. In March, for example, Google randomly dipped down to 76.49 percent of U.S. searches. Then, it bounced back to 79.08 a month later. Why? Who knows. But it wasn’t because of Bing—that word hadn’t even entered our vocabulary as a proper noun at that point.

(emphasis mine)

Looks like more The Bellcurve statistical misrepresentation to me. And the article makes the great point that it’s just too soon to tell.

I work a lot in SEO for clients, and often they come to me requesting numbers after only a week of implementing changes, but the results would be skewed as above.

Patience, Microsoft, patience. In due time, you’ll realize how much money you lost on television advertising.

neglected dog (via Jesse!)
Seriously. Don’t get a hound dog (wiener or otherwise) unless you have no life and can devote 100% of your time to them. Otherwise they get despressed and act out by eating checks that come in the mail (true story).

Hah, I remember when she added me on flickr a few years ago with a canned “I’m new in town” message. I thought she was a spammer and promptly blocked her.
PS, call me rude but her eye brows are scary.
PPS, call it “success” but hocking AT&T phones is pretty sad and souless.

Spotted on a piss-poor commercial: “internet celebrity” Justine Ezarik.
This is what Internet celebs accomplish. This is not what talent accomplishes. But your Wikipedia entry will never be as thorough as Justine’s.

I still don’t know what to think about Justine. I go from finding her funny to irritating and back frequently.

I love the iJustine haters. They just don’t get. How the hell does somebody get so many fans and not be talented (if that’s what’s being insinuated)?
If thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of people click on a link you posted or watched a video you made or pay you lots of money to be in a commercial — even if it’s piss-poor — you are talented.
I think she’s hilarious. Always believed that. Yeah, she’s created plenty of cringe worthy videos, but haven’t we all…
iJustine is just the best. Everybody knows that.

QEA.

NYC FTW

San Francisco or New York?

New York - Even though I’ve never been there.  I really want to live there, at least for a little while.  Everything about it seems incredible and busy and just perfect.  I’ve been to San Francisco quite often and know it pretty well, I’d like to think.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic city with lots of interesting people and fascinating things going on.

Although I have to say, NYC isn’t all that interesting when you get 31 flavors of jaded at age 18 after growing up there.

hah or SF the same way. The whole “incredible and busy” seems like a big turn off. Fun to visit, but Portland is more my speed these days. To each their own (and don’t come on to MINE ;-) ). etc, etc.
